Trailer round-up: ‘Despicable Me 2’, ‘Frankenweenie’, ‘ParaNorman’, ‘Prometheus’ [Update: ‘MIB 3’]

The Minions are back in Illumination Entertainment’s sequel Despicable Me 2. Check out the teasiest of teasers above and anticipate the film’s July 3, 2013 future release.

Now jump after the break to watch trailers for Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, ParaNorman, and Prometheus.

Here is the second full-length trailer for ParaNorman, the upcoming stop motion animated feature from LAIKA (the makers of Coraline). It hits theatres in 3D this summer on August 17.

Disney has enabled the twisted filmmaker Tim Burton to produce an extended theatrical version of his 1984 short film Frankenweenie. The film serves as a parody of and a homage to the 1931 film Frankenstein and tells a tail (see what I did there?) in black and white:

After the death of his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring him back to life. Victor tries to hide his creation, but Sparky gets out and causes havoc in the town.

Frankenweenie will be the first stop motion film to be released in IMAX 3D when it comes out the month of Halloween on October 5, 2012.

Now this video promoting Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi movie Prometheus isn’t so much a trailer per se, but rather a viral marketing supplement to the trailers that have been previously outed. It stars Guy Pearce’s character Peter Weyland in the future at the 2013 TED conference explaining to the masses his plan for his company Weyland Industries to “change the world.” He is very enticing, isn’t he? This viral video was conceived by Scott and writer Damon Lindelof and directed by Scott’s son Luke. Though this powerful scene won’t be featured in the film, it should get you amped for Prometheus‘ June 8 release.

Here’s the second trailer for Men In Black 3, and it continues right where the previous one left off. Agent J (Will Smith) time travels to the 1960s and meets a young K (Josh Brolin) and together they attempt to save the future of humankind. In this new clip we get to see more of the ’60s and the tech that’s in it, and we’re introduced to Andy Warhol played by SNL‘s Bill Hader. MIB 3 opens wide May 25.
