Concept watch relays Facebook, Twitter updates to your wrist

The stainless steel Instant Trend concept watch receives Facebook and Twitter notifications by hooking up to your smartphone via Bluetooth.   Buttons on the side of the watch let you scan through the messages.  And if you think that’s neat, listen to how bizarre reading the actual time is: the pixelated bars you see in the image above represent the time in hours, minutes, and 10-minute blocks.  “Reading the time is simple, just add the blocks; 12 blocks for hours, 5 blocks for groups of 10 minutes and single minutes 1-9.”  Did I mention this is a concept device?

Happy Hour lets you pop ‘n’ chug with a watch

The Happy Hour Timepiece is a watch that doubles as a bottle opener.  The face of the watch features digital and analog time displays and the black leather strap includes the bottle opener contraption.  Says the manufactuer:

Happy Hour™ is built for those who want to have a little fun opening their beverage with a very stylized watch.  The patented buckle allows you to pop-open your favorite beverage with nothing more than a flick of the wrist—and without taking off your watch.

This ingenious invention is available for $49.95.  Images of the watch below, a video demonstration after the break.

High tech gun requires its handler to wear a wristwatch

This sleek, futurisic looking gun does not match the unattractive watch it must be paired with in order for it to fire.  The gun flashes a red LED light to reveal it’s unarmed when the watch is not in close distance to it.  If the shooter is wearing the custom watch the gun becomes armed when a wireless signal is shared between the two mechanisms, and this is confirmed with a green LED light.  It’s an electronic safety, if you will.  Armatix’s .22ca gun ships in February for about $10,000.
