Music video: Eminem: “Love the Way You Lie” (Featuring Rihanna) (w/ Dominic Monaghan & Megan Fox!)

Before tonight’s episode of The Jersey Shore, MTV premiered the music video for Eminem’s chart-topping single “Love the Way You Lie.”  Not only does it include Eminem spitting his game and Rihanna belting out the catchy hook, but Charlie from Lost and the hot chick from Transformers lend their acting chops to the powerful lyrics.  Domestic violence is the theme, something that Eminem and Rihanna have experienced in their own personal lives.  Dominic Monaghan and Megan Fox make for an attractive couple in an over-the-top love/hate relationship.  One second punches are thrown and in the next lips and tongues are interlocking.  It all plays out very theatrically and I commend the effort put into it.  Check out the music video above and share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Music video: Eminem – “Not Afraid”

Here’s the music video for Eminem’s first single off his next album “Not Afraid.”  In it you see Eminem rap in a basement, push his way through a maze of mirrors, and fly above a destroyed city (with a not so subtle ad for Beats by Dre plastered in the background).  Does Eminem rise from the wreckage that he believes was his last album Relapse with this chart-topping single?  Download the song at iTunesRecovery drops June 22.

Eminem’s next album is not a sequel, it’s Recovery

After a five year haiutus, Eminem dropped Relapse into the world.  And I liked it.  Shortly after its release Em let it be know that during the recording sessions with producer Dr. Dre they had created so much new content that all of it couldn’t fit on a single CD.  Thus began the talk of a Relapse 2, a sequel to the 2009 album that would contain the rest of the tracks that didn’t make it the first go-around.  The Em came out and said this: “I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year.  But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album.  The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.”  Relapse 2 is no more.  Recovery is due out June 22.  Producers include Just Blaze, DJ Khalil, Jim Jonsin, and Boi-1da.

Just Blaze hypes the album: “As far as what’s going on in Detroit, a lot of good music is being made. He’s really back spitting. The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy. He’s really back on his game. He had his ups, he had his downs, he’s back way, way, way up. This is definitely going to be up there with the best of his albums, for sure, for sure. The fact that he’s branched out working with a lot of different people now, collaborating in a lot of different ways that he never has before, I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people.”

Eminem is back with a “refill”

Relpase: Refill - In Stores 12.21.09!

Before Relapse 2 is released later next year, Eminem is sharing with us seven new tracks in a re-release of this year’s comeback album Relapse.  Two of the seven new songs include iTunes singles “Hell Breaks Loose” (featuring Dr Dre) and Elevator.  “Forever,” the slick single that also features Drake, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne, is also on the album.  Eminem kills it on that track; his verse alone makes the song a great single.  Look after the break for a full track listing.

Eminem on Refill: “I want to deliver more material for the fans this year like I originally planned.  Hopefully these tracks on The Refill will tide the fans over until we put out Relapse 2 next year.”  Em also comments on his time in the studio: “I got back in with Dre and then a few more producers, including Just Blaze, and went in a completely different direction which made me start from scratch. The new tracks started to sound very different than the tracks I originally intended to be on Relapse 2, but I still want the other stuff to be heard.”

Relapse: Refill officially drops today but will made available for download on iTunes this Tuesday.

Music video: Drake – “Forever” (Featuring Kanye West, Lil Wayne, & Eminem)

There’s a reason this song made its way to the number one spot on the iTunes chart and still resides in the top ten.  It’s good.  I will point out, though, that some of the featured artists do bring it down some.  Yeezy and Weezy’s verses are weak in comparison to Eminem’s crazy good verse that follows.  It’s worth the listen for the catchy chorus, and even more so for Em’s ingenious rhyme-fest at the end.  Download “Forever” on iTunes here.

Eminem goes to rehab, brings us Relapse

Slim Shady is back.  It has been four years since Eminem’s last studio album, Encore.  Where has he been, you ask?  Back in the summer of 2005, Eminem was forced to cancel the European part of his “Anger Management Tour” due to an addiction to sleeping pills.  Later, he re-married and then re-divorced his ex-wife Kimberly Scott andhe lost one of his close friends and fellow rapper DeShawn Holton (who was shot).  Due to all of this pain in his life, he “relapsed” and became addicted to many kinds of prescription drugs.  This was a very dark period in his life.  In 2007, he was hospitalized due to an overdose.  After taking a 12-step program to rid his addictions, it has been reported that he has been sober since April 2008.  And this is where the history lesson ends.  Look after the break (click “more…”) for the full review.
