‘Glee’ kids best Elvis Presley’s Billboard Hot 100 record

You knew it was only a matter of time before the barrage of Glee singles would prove their strength in numbers on the Billboard charts. Back in November 2010 Glee posted 93 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 list. This week the Glee kids finally passed Elvis Presley’s all-time record of 108 chart entires. As of today, 113 songs from the hit FOX series have made their way to the chart, besting the likes of Elvis, James Brown (91 songs), Ray Charles (74), and Aretha Franklin (73). While Elvis’ chart-topping songs gathered steam between 1958 and 2003, Glee managed to post their record-breaking amount in less than two years. It all began with their fantastic rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” in June 2009. The only significant difference between the Glee singles and tracks produced from other famous artists is that the Glee tracks are covers borrowed from said artists. Though you might find this news tainted with unoriginality in terms of where the Glee songs are coming from, that shouldn’t take away from the monumentality of it all.

In related Billboard news, this week Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” became the 1,000th song to top the Hot 100 chart in its 52-year history. Says Gaga, “It is a tremendous honor. To be the 1000th no. 1 on Billboard…I would be silly not to say this is the greatest honor of my career.”

Single: Lady Gaga – “Born This Way”

After posting online teaser artwork and lyrics to her long-awaited and hyped new single “Born This Way,” Lady Gaga finally catered to her mass following of Little Monsters by releasing the track in full before she performs it live at the Grammys this Sunday. In essence the thumping track is an anthem for the gay community. During the outro she whispers, “Same DNA, but born this way.” It’s certainly a catchy tune that will grow on you over time. Interestingly, the song took ten minutes for Gaga to compose. She told Vogue, “I wrote it in ten f—ing minutes, and it is a completely magical message song. And after I wrote it, the gates just opened, and the songs kept coming. It was like an immaculate conception.” Her second album also titled Born This Way is due out this May. Listen to the song above, download it at iTunes here. Hop after the break to see the tease and final cover art. Continue reading Single: Lady Gaga — “Born This Way”

Lady Gaga takes over Polaroid, shows off instant digital camera, mobile printer, and futuristic camera glasses

If you didn’t know, Lady Gaga was appointed the Creative Director of Polaroid.  You know, the company famous for inventing the chunky camera that almost instantly spits out pictures onto film sheets.  In 2008 Polaroid announced the discontinuation of its self-developing film, but now they’re back and with the help of Gaga they hope to reinvigorate the nostalgia of the aged Polaroid camera and their overall brand with three new products. The “Polaroid Grey Label” includes the GL30 Instant Digital Camera, GL10 Instant Mobile Printer, and the GL20 Camera Glasses.  The GL30 is reminiscent of Polaroid cameras of the past and uses ZINK Zero Ink Technology for instant printing.  Users can select from a number of filters and borders before the image pops out of the portable, sleek digital camera.  The GL10 is a portable printer that also uses the ZINK technology and images are instantly printed on smudge-proof, water-resistant film that resembles white photo paper.  The GL20 glasses has to be the coolest product of the bunch, and they’re something only Lady Gaga could think of to invent.  The fashionably loud and futuristic glasses double as a digital camera.  You can instantly capture or upload pictures with it and then display the images on the glasses’ LCD screens for others to see.  Sounds strange at first but the idea is quite novel.  It’s just another way to express yourself.

All three products were shown off in purely conceptual form at CES 2011, but Polaroid is confident they will ship the printer in May 2011 for $149.99 and the camera and glasses “later this year” at undisclosed prices.  Look at the pics below and PR is after the break.

Music video: Lady Gaga – “Alejandro”

Gaga’s latest music video (or should I say short film) comes in at just under nine minutes.  It features a number of men with bowl-cuts and a half naked Lady Gaga for nearly the entire video.  Though there’s some story being told here, I really have no clue as to what’s going on.  At one point Gaga goes Madonna donning black slacks and a machine-gun bra.  I find this single to be one of her weaker hits to make it mainstream, and yet I still have the song stuck in my head after watching this.  So, uh, go on and watch it for yourself and see if you can make sense of it all.  Good luck.  Look after the break for a bonus video! U.S. troops remake Gaga’s “Telephone” music video

A group of U.S. soldiers stationed in Afghanistan decided to put together their own version of Lady Gaga’s music video for “Telephone.”  Prepare yourself for a fantastical journey, says their YouTube post.  Glad you guys find time to have some fun.  Come home safe!

Music video: Lady Gaga – “Telephone” (Featuring Beyonce)

OK people.  This is the strangest, most bizarre music video Lady Gaga has made, ever.  She’s very close to being nude throughout almost the entire video, and somehow she was able to transform Beyonce into one of her ‘monster’ followers.  The song is catchy, sure…but this level of ‘unique’ is too far out there for me.  From the live cigarrette sunglasses to the Coke can hair rollers, this Thelma & Louise-ian ride in the PussyWagon is all a bit too much and over-the-top.  Go ahead and watch all 9-plus minutes of the video and form your own opinions.

“Badder Romance” shot-by-shot re-creation impresses Gaga

Rabbid Lady Gaga fans and YouTubers  BINKproductionz created this shot-by-shot re-creation of Lady Gaga’s hit “Bad Romance.”  The parody is so true to the actual music video that Lady Gaga watched it and was so impressed by it that she shared it with all her fans via her Twitter page.  Her response?  “Holy s—.”

Warning: Many explicitives are used at the end of this video.

Lady Gaga electrfies the pose, her most bizzare yet?

Lady Gaga’s latest photoshoot consists of these images that can be found in the limited edition copy of her re-release album, The Fame Monster.  This “zombie cyborg” look is almost as scary as her red-mesh face mask she wore when she accepted her VMA.  Oh, come on, you remember–bet you still have nightmares from it.

Music video: Lady Gaga – “Bad Romance”

Some are calling Gaga’s latest video for her new single “Bad Romance” “her best yet,” and I tend to agree with these sentiments.  Though her music video for “Paparazzi” was very unique and stands out in its own way, “Bad Romance” just feels bigger and, well, better.  The costume designs, the choreography (with a nod to MJ’s “Thriller”), and the overall production design of it is flat out superb and entrancing.  Take a look for yourself and enjoy Gaga and her, erm, eccentric-ness.
