First look: Gal Gadot brings Wonder Woman to life in standalone pic coming in 2017

Ladies and gentleman, our Wonder Woman. Israeli actress Gal Gadot is set to make her big debut as the DC Comics heroine in Zack Snyder’s upcoming superhero extravaganza Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. We’ve seen her don the classic garb associated with WW in a still plucked from Snyder’s take. This image, however, comes from another place entirely. Warner Bros. is making a standalone Wonder Woman movie starring Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster). Gadot took to Twitter to share this enticing pic and couple it with the following caption: “Almost 75 years in the making… #WonderWoman is underway.” Previously I had made the argument that WW is ready for the big screen, and it didn’t take long for my wish to come true.

See Gadot bring Diana Prince to life in Batman v Superman when it releases March 25, 2016. Wonder Woman is on track to hit theatres June 23, 2017.

What’s better than hearing about Melissa McCarthy, Kristin Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones joining the cast of the new Ghostbusters? Seeing Melissa McCarthy, Kristin Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones in action, that’s what! Nearly six months after it was announced that the SNL players plus McCarthy would star in Paul Feig’s upcoming relaunch of the Ghostbusters franchise, the director tweeted out this image (see above) featuring the ladies all geared up and ready to pulverize some nasty poltergeists. Feig has been ramping up anticipation for his next flick on social media; in addition to the costumed cast, he has also shared images of the costumes on a rack, some slimy green goo, and first-looks at the Ghostbusters’ iconic ride, Ecto-1, and the “modern” proton pack.

So far, so good. Itching for a trailer? Me too.

New ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ teaser trailer, plus Benedict Cumberbatch villain is “named”

Two weeks ago Paramount gave us a first look at J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek sequel Into Darkness with a grim poster and an announcement trailer that introduced us to the film’s big baddie played by the one and only Benedict Cumberbatch. Today the studio provides a new teaser trailer, the one that’s attached to screenings of The Hobbit. New footage is mixed with brief glimpses we’ve seen before, including that special moment between Kirk and Spock that was originally added to the ending of the Japanese version of the announcement trailer. In this go around, Bruce Greenwood’s Captain Pike takes over most of the narration duties in a plea to his Enterprise successor Captain Kirk. “There’s greatness in you. But there’s not an ounce of humility,” he says. “You think that you can’t make mistakes. But there’s going to come a moment when you realize you’re wrong about that and you’re going to get yourself and everyone under your command killed.”

To learn the film’s antagonist’s name, jump after the break. Continue reading New ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ teaser trailer, plus Benedict Cumberbatch villain is “named”
