Netflix’s Emmy award-winning series House of Cards returns for its second season on February 14. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright return as the politically power-hungry Francis and Claire Underwood. Just like before, all 13 episodes will premiere the day the streaming service launches the new season. As you prepare your binge schedule today, check out the new season 2 synopsis:

In the second season, Francis (Spacey) and Claire (Wright) Underwood continue their ruthless rise to power as threats mount on all fronts. Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara, “American Horror Story”), an up-and-coming reporter and Francis’s former paramour, is inching closer to the truth about his crimes. President Walker’s (Michel Gill, “The Good Wife”) billionaire confidante Raymond Tusk (Gerald McRaney, “Southland”) demands that Francis reciprocate political favors or face retribution. And Claire must confront the increasing glare of the spotlight as it eats away at her and Francis’s once private existence. First look: CBS’ ‘Under The Dome’

From executive producer Steven Spielberg and showrunner Brian K. Vaughan (Lost) comes Under the Dome, a series based the 2009 Stephen King novel that is the story of a small New England town named Chester’s Mill that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town’s residents need to survive the deteriorating post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from, and how to make it go away.

In this first look clip you’ll hear from King and members of the cast including Mike Vogel (Pan AmBates Motel), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), and Britt Robertson (The Secret Circle). Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) directed the pilot. “Under The Dome is going to be an innovative, exciting 13-week event. It is going to be riveting TV,” exudes King.

The series begins its summer run June 14 on CBS. Watch a second promo after the break. Continue reading First look: CBS’ ‘Under The Dome’

‘Bates Motel’ gets a poster, watch it come alive

A boy’s best friend is his mother.

That’s the oh-so-approproate tagline for first season of Bates Motel, the upcoming A&E Psycho prequel series from Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights). A poster featuring young Norman (Freddie Highmore) and Norma (Vera Farmiga) Bates hangs after the break. Above, it comes to life in a such a creep-tastic way. Highmore solidifies the role here and now; that single smirk strikes a chord and he nailed it.

Bates Motel premieres Monday, March 18 at 10PM on A&E. Continue reading ‘Bates Motel’ gets a poster, watch it come alive

‘Fringe’ showrunners discuss the return of Peter Bishop

Take 2. Due to the World Series airing on FOX last Friday, the next pivotal episode of Fringe–you know, the one where Peter Bishop comes back into existence and reunites with his partner Olivia and father Walter–was pushed to the following week. Well, I am excited to report that a week’s time has indeed past and the episode titled “Novation” will air tonight! Before watching tonight’s installment, take a moment to hear what Fringe showrunners J.H. Wyman and Jeff Pinkner have to say about the return of the younger Bishop. “What are the consequences of Peter being back?” posits Pinkner. Tune in to find out.

‘Locke & Key’ pilot trailer is (probably) all we’ll ever see

It’s a real shame that FOX passed over Locke & Key, the Joe Hill/Gabriel Rodriguez comic book adaptation from creator Josh Friedman and executive producers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Steven Spielberg. 20th Century Fox TV screened the pilot directed by Mark Romanek at Comic Con, but the cheers simply didn’t prove loud enough for the studio to pass it along to another network. Due to rising production costs and lack of network/cable interest, Locke & Key has been shelved indefinitely and will likely never see the light of day again.

And so I share with you this sneak peek at the pilot that leaked onto the Internet not too long ago. On Twitter Friedman posted a link to the video saying that it “was made by FOX for advertisers months ago (obviously before they decided not to pick us up).” Mirando Otto, Jesse McCartney, Sarah Bolger, Skylar Gaertner, and Nick Stahl star in the haunting promo that successfully hypes the mystical world set forth by Hill and Rodriguez and imagined for TV by Friedman. Though it’s hard to watch because you know the story will never be told on screen, it’s certainly worth viewing so you can at least experience a glimpse of what might have been.

In June Hill had this to say about the premiere episode: “Mark Romanek and Josh Friedman turned in a hell of a good pilot (says a dude who is, of course, completely unbiased). The finished episode is scary, and lean, and emotionally authentic, and has a similar feel to Super 8; it very much has a kind of early 80s scary-Spielberg vibe. It’s also very faithful to the source material. I’m so, so proud of everyone who worked on it and of what was accomplished.”

‘Fringe’ asks, “Where will you be when it happens?”

In this tantalizing teaser highlighting what’s to come on Fringe the show asks fans, “Where will you be when it happens?”

When what happens exactly? What is “it“? Perhaps they are referring to the impending doom (the obliteration of one universe) brought on by the machine + Peter Bishop. Or maybe it’s something else entirely…

Whatever’s going to happening, it’s going down when the sun comes up at 6:02AM. Now how do I know that? In a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, the time “6:02AM” flashes precisely at :12 and then again at :13 in the video above. Sneaky, huh? FOX posted a lengthier promo called “Life and Death” and this video also makes mention of this mysterious time. I’ve embedded the second spot after the break, and I’ll leave it up to you to find the clue.

With promise of another season, I can’t wait to see what the team has in store for the May season finale. Fringe airs Fridays at 9PM on FOX. New episodes return April 15. Continue reading ‘Fringe’ asks, “Where will you be when it happens?”
