Movie trailer round-up: ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ ‘Zoolander 2,’ Now You See Me 2,’ Disney’s ‘Zootopia’ & the stunning ‘Little Prince’ [Update: ‘Batman v Superman’]

Tensions rise as the world governments demand accountability for our heroes’ actions in the first trailer above, pitting friend against friend.

Friend #1? Captain America. Friend #2? Oh, that’s Iron Man.

In Marvel’s third Cap movie, it’s Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) versus Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) as the superheroes take sides in a Civil War of epic proportions. In Age of Ultron, the Avengers inadvertently made quite the mess and killed innocent bystanders in their quest to destroy Stark’s rogue artificial intelligence. Captain America: Civil War picks up shortly thereafter at a time when the government is forming a system of accountability in regards to calling in the Avengers for combative assistance. Stark takes sides with the politicians as he believes in strong government regulation of his rag-tag team of heroes. Rogers, meanwhile, is not a fan and therein lies the fracturing of former friends.

Civil War almost feels like a third Avengers movie. In addition to the usual Cap supporting players like the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Crossbones (Frank Grillo), Civil War also features lots of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and of course Iron Man (Downey, Jr.). Making his debut here is Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, and everyone’s anticipating Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point.

Captain America: Civil War is out May 6, 2016. Pop into the gallery below to see some shiny theatrical posters featuring Cap and Iron Man duking it out.

Derek Zoolander is back on the scene, has difficulty with sequel’s title in new teaser

I went to see the new Mission: Impossible this weekend (it was good, not great), and prior to the movie, a trailer pondering the origins of the universe and the human species started to play. I gripped my seat tight in anticipation of what was unfolding. A robotic narrator (I was thinking Stephen Hawking at the time) talks up the big bang and how it led to life on Earth. Suddenly the clip torpedoes you into a human brain, and that’s when things take a turn for the comedic and I started to wonder what’s going on here? 3+4=34…E=mc(hammer)…the definition of the word “Eugoogly”…a don’t-turn-left sign…neon blowdryers and an orange mocha frappuccino…cameras and mermans…it’s all starting to make sense now. Hawking poses: “The one question that has puzzled mankind since the beginning of time?”

“If God exists, then why did he make ugly people?” submits Ben Stiller as dim-witted male model Derek Zoolander. That’s right–all along this was the first teaser trailer for the hotly anticipated Zoolander sequel. Is it 2oolander, or Zoolander II? The teaser has fun with all that towards the end.

I’m not so sure that the teaser lives up to the hysterical unveiling of the sequel during Paris Fashion Week when Stiller and co-star Owen Wilson crashed the runway in character. Though I will say, going into this at the theatre thinking it was a first-look at a new sci-fi flick and then seeing it spin into Zoolander was quite the treat.

Stiller directs a script penned by Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder). Will Ferrell and Christine Taylor reprise their roles from the 2001 original, and joining them are Penelope Cruz and Kristen Wiig. Lots of fun cameos are expected.

2oolander (yeah, I’m sticking with that) hits theatres February 12, 2016. Continue reading Derek Zoolander is back on the scene, has difficulty with sequel’s title in new teaser

‘Zoolander 2’ made official by Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson crashing Paris Fashion Week in character

ORANGE MOCHA FRAPPUCCINO!

Call it the most inventive way to announce a sequel. On Tuesday, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson strutted down the Maison Valentino runway during the Paris Fashion Show as Derek Zoolander and Hansel (So hot right now. Hansel.) McDonald; by bringing back the acclaimed Blue Steel pose, they officially announced a sequel to the 2001 cult comedy Zoolander. See their surprise appearance after the break. Afterwards, Paramount made it official with a tweet revealing the film’s release date: February 12, 2016.

And the fun didn’t stop there. The really, really, ridiculously good looking duo also appeared on Instagram to promote the forthcoming Zoolander 2 by posing together and also with American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Stiller is expected to direct again and he co-wrote the script with his Tropic Thunder collaborator Justin Theroux. Beyond Stiller and Wilson, no other casting news has been made. However, Stiller has publicly stated in the past his want for Will Ferrell to return as the villainous Mugatu.

The plot is being kept under wraps for now, but a peek at a 2010 interview between MTV and Stiller might shed light on what we can expect: “In the fashion world, if you go away for a year, it’s changed — it just happens so quickly,” he said. “I think the idea in the beginning of the movie is that it’s 10 years later, and Derek and Hansel are literally forgotten. Nobody remembers who they are, so they have to reinvent themselves.”

As a proud hardcore fan of the original, I am beyond excited to see what Stiller has in store for Derek Zoolander. The first one is jam-packed with memorable, timeless one-liners and undeniably outrageous sequences to-boot. I trust he and Theroux have cooked up a good enough story to warrant the return for these characters. I mean, what was done at the Paris Fashion Show is such an incredibly fun way to bring it all back. Can’t wait to see what happens next. Ben Stiller confirms ‘Zoolander 2’

You guys ready for some really ridiculously good news?  Ben Stiller has confirmed to Empire Magazine that a sequel to 2001’s Zoolander is well on its way to actually being made!  He’s teaming up with director Justin Theroux again, and Owen Wilson’s Hansel will be back.  The script, written by Stiller and Theroux, is complete and now they’re waiting to hear back from the studio.  It’s not much but here’s what Stiller spilled, plot-wise: “It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel ten years later – though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them.”  Will the hilarious and villainous Mugatu make a return?  “Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it,” Stiller shares. “I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way.”  Woot!  And last, in the rumor mill sits a cameo by Lady Gaga.  She is a prominent figure in today’s fashion industry, so it would make sense for her to appear in the Zoolander universe, so we’ll see.  Keep it right here for the latest Zoolander 2 developments.  Now strike a pose–Blue Steel!
