EXTREME!! Gaming on the go with a PS3 and a projector

This video features Epson’s version of “the extreme gamer.”  He wears a strap-on backpack that includes a PS3 and Epson’s EH-TW450 projector.  Sure it’s a viral video for their projector, but it’s fun nonetheless.  The extreme gamer runs around the city in his shameful harness of tech, displaying Need for Speed: Shift on buildings, dance club ceilings, and inside wind tunnels.  Would I put myself through such shame for a few bucks from Epson?  Probably not.  This level of EXTREMENESS is too loud for my self-respect.

Amazon Kindle commercial features a lovely song, with a lovely artist

The latest stop motion TV spot for the Amazon Kindle features up-and-coming artist Annie Little.  She stars in the commercial and sings the song “Fly Me Away.”  The Fly Me Away EP includes three songs and is available at Amazon to purchase.  The song used in the commercial is available for free, so you should definitely pick it up.  She’s quite talented and I’m sure this will not be last we see of her.

Face Recognition Door Lock makes checking into work a snap

Face recognition versus punch cards.  I wonder which one I would choose.  The former, duh!  The Face Recognition Door Lock was designed with purpose to keep track of company employees coming and leaving the job place.

It “features dual cameras (creating a 3D image that prevents false matches using a simple 2D photograph) , night vision, a 3.5 inch TFT display screen, touch keypad, USB and Ethernet port for TCP/IP connections, the ability to register up to 500 faces, and a verification process that supposedly takes less than a second.”  With the ability to store up to 150,000 attendance records of employees, I better start seeing this implemented in companies across the country.  Those damn punch cards never work right.  Here’s hoping facial recognition does.

Audiophile, this is your chair

The Ballerina Sweetspot.  Designed by Michael Hollesen, Klutz Design.

If you really, really love listening to music and want to hear all the sounds with absolute perfection you might want to invest in this $8,000 armchair.  It features a specially designed headrest that prevents the reflection of sound, memory foam that conforms to your body, open armrests for remote storage, and aluminum leg and frame that reduces sonic vibration.  I must as I would enjoy such a treat this Sweetspot will forever remain on my wishlist indefinitely.

Plaza del Torico sprinkled in LED lights

The Plaza del Torico, located in Teruel, Spain, has undergone a recent change in looks.  Over 1,230 LED lamps have been embedded in the pavement of the plaza.  The large scale system has been configured so that colors and patterns can sequentially change.  And that’s that; Teruel, Spain is now on my list of places to visit in the near future.

Killer carriage

“Na zha,” designed by Shi Jinsong.

This stainless steel baby stroller looks like it came straight from a post-apocalyptic future out of a Terminator movie.  With such sharp edges and dangerous Edward Scissorhands looks, no one will think twice about messing with a baby being transported in this contraption.  The attached machine gun might do the trick, too.

Through his razor-sharp sculptures and related works, Shi Jinsong initiates a dialogue, at once menacing and ironic, between the forms of mythic Chinese culture and modern day globalization.

In the work ‘ne zha’ it appears in the disguise of being protective, consoling and decorative, but its details betray its true function of weapon.  It indicates the highest degree of ambiguity in one’s temperament.  It presents and represents.  It invites and refuses.

Short: Giant robots invade our world

Panic Attack!

Directed and animated by Fede Alvarez.

Alvarez created this four minute, 48 second short film about a robot invasion through his commercial production house for under $500.  There has been so much positive buzz around this video that Hollywood execs are begging for more.  In fact, legendary director and writer Sam Raimi will be supporting Alvarez bring his creation to the big screen.  That’s right–Alvarez has been given a one million dollar deal with Ghost House Pictures to live his dream, to bring crazy apocalyptic robots into our theaters.  This potential success story reminds me of Neill Blomkamp’s story; he was discovered by Peter Jackson to make District 9 in a very similar way.
