Scientists at the Purple Mountain Observatory in Nanjing have captured 40 minutes of (what they believe to be) UFO footage recorded during a solar eclipse back on July 22. According to Chinese TV, people witnessed a “glowing blue sphere” that changed its shape repeatedly.
Observatory director Ji Hai-sheng: “Purple Mountain Observatory and Chinese Academy of Sciences said that during the July 22 total solar eclipse observation, China had discovered near the sun, by observing staff, an unidentified object, it’s physical nature remains to be further studied. Currently manpower is being organized to deal with this data, complete the data analysis and reveal the scientific results and this will take at least one year’s time to finalize.”
What do you think about this startling footage? Have you ever had a UFO sighting? Sound off in the comments below.

I really enjoy these live action Halo trailers/videos. I can only imagine what director Neill Blomkamp (District 9) could do with it to create a live action Halo movie. Halo 3: ODST drops September 22 for Xbox 360.

Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson were newcomers to Saturday Night Live. Their comedy potential was just rising as they were axed from the show by creator Lorne Michaels yesterday. Watkins will be remembered for her “bitch, pleeeeze” character, Kathy Lee’s counterpart Hoda Kotb, and her spot on portrayal of Barbara Walters. Wilson’s Cougar Den sketches and celebrity impressions will also missed from the show.
In related news, Abbey Elliot will remain on the show, and two new cast members have been added to arsenal: Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad (see below).

Click here to read EW’s exclusive interview with Watkins to learn more about her firing. Peek after the break for some favorite Watkins/Wilson moments.
