Joss Whedon & Morgan Spurlock may film a Comic Con documentary

According to E! News, creator/director/producer/writer/genius Joss Whedon is teaming up with director Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) to develop a documentary following a group of uber-nerds attending this year’s Comic Con.  According to the source, “They want to follow people for about three months leading up to this year’s Comic-Con.  And then they want to film them there.  They’re looking at all types of people.”

As much as I would love to be featured in this doc, I don’t know if I have the chops to make the cut.  I’m not really into the whole costume thing.  But they did say they are searching for all types of people.  WHEDON & SPURLOCK, listen here: If you’re looking for a blogger who goes to Comic Con to walk the convention floor and attend as many TV/movie/web series panels as humanly possible, I’m the one you want!  Hey, it’s worth a try.

Asimo stars in “Living with Robots” documentary

Our favorite robot Asimo stars in a Honda short-film documentary called “Living with Robots.”  The docu “investigates humankind’s keen interest in robots and how robots can challenge the impossible by saving lives while also holding the promise to become more integrated and helpful in daily life.”  In case you never heard of Honda’s ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility), he’s “the world’s most advanced humanoid robot, and the company’s commitment to researching and developing bipedal mobility and how the research improves technologies across the company.”  You can take a peek at the trailer for it above.  If it pings your interest, the full length film was shown at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will hopefully find its way to DVD and Blu Ray soon.  Full PR after the break.

Isn’t that final sequence chilling, when Asimo looks at himself in the mirror?  He very naturally tilts his head inquisitively, as if he were human.  Help me realize our future: will robots take over the world (ie. iRobot) or will they develop to help maintain and better our lives?

“The Virtual Revolution” documentary explores the effects of the Internet

This is a teaser clip from the upcoming BBC documentary titled “The Virtual Revolution.”  It’s a four part series about how the Internet is changing the world.  This teaser has got me looking forward to the series not only due to its tech-related content but also because of its impressive lineup of interviews.  Tim Berners-Lee (the inventor of the World Wide Web), Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Wikipedia’s Jimmy Wales, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Al Gore, Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak, and Stephen Fry share their thoughts about how the web has altered (and continues to change) the world around us.

What’s also neat is that the creators and producers of the series left it up to us to decide the name (and some of the content) of the series.  Tentitively titled “Digital Revolution” the series will officially be named “The Virtual Revolution.”  The producers continue to hear opinions, thoughts, and experiences from around the web so that they can make the most relevant documentary possible.  “The Virtual Revolution” airs next week on BBC2.  If you do not receive this channel, I will update this page in the coming days with other outlets to watch if you’re interested.
