Movie trailer round-up: ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ ‘Zoolander 2,’ Now You See Me 2,’ Disney’s ‘Zootopia’ & the stunning ‘Little Prince’ [Update: ‘Batman v Superman’]

Tensions rise as the world governments demand accountability for our heroes’ actions in the first trailer above, pitting friend against friend.

Friend #1? Captain America. Friend #2? Oh, that’s Iron Man.

In Marvel’s third Cap movie, it’s Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) versus Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) as the superheroes take sides in a Civil War of epic proportions. In Age of Ultron, the Avengers inadvertently made quite the mess and killed innocent bystanders in their quest to destroy Stark’s rogue artificial intelligence. Captain America: Civil War picks up shortly thereafter at a time when the government is forming a system of accountability in regards to calling in the Avengers for combative assistance. Stark takes sides with the politicians as he believes in strong government regulation of his rag-tag team of heroes. Rogers, meanwhile, is not a fan and therein lies the fracturing of former friends.

Civil War almost feels like a third Avengers movie. In addition to the usual Cap supporting players like the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Crossbones (Frank Grillo), Civil War also features lots of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and of course Iron Man (Downey, Jr.). Making his debut here is Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, and everyone’s anticipating Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point.

Captain America: Civil War is out May 6, 2016. Pop into the gallery below to see some shiny theatrical posters featuring Cap and Iron Man duking it out.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson return in Zoolander 2 out February 12, 2016.

The Four Horsemen–namely, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Lizzy Caplan–are back with more mesmerizing magic in Now You See Me 2 out June 10, 2016. Joining the crew this time around is Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter). If the ending to this one is at least as unexpected and mind-bending as in the 2013 original, count me in. Looks fun.

Following such hot acts like Wreck-It-RalphFrozen, and Big Hero 6 is Zootopia. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ next animated film goes a little something like this:

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.

This initial teaser features a slow-moving sloth character and its long-running joke loses steam fast. Let’s hope this early misstep is merely a fluke because we all expect that classic Disney charm prominently featured in the Animation Studio’s previous efforts.

Rounding out the voice cast: Shakira, Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Nate Torrence, Jenny Slate, Tommy Chong, Octavia Spencer, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Alan Tudyk, Tommy “Tiny” Lister, Raymond Persi, Katie Lowes, Jesse Corti, and John DiMaggio.

Zootopia is out March 4, 2016.

The Little Prince, the classic fable published by famed French poet Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in 1943, is being adapted for the big screen and boy does it look like a beautiful work of art. Directed by Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda), The Little Prince seamlessly switches between two distinct animation techniques, namely CGI and stop motion. Color pop and emotions soar in this adventure starring the Little Girl (voiced by Mackenzie Foy) and the Aviator (the perfectly cast Jeff Bridges). The film is not a direct adaptation of Saint-Exupéry’s work; instead it’s inspired by it and tells an original tale about a girl, her pushy mother, and the girl’s trepidations about growing up too fast.

The star-studded voice cast includes Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, Benicio del Toro, and Ricky Gervais.

Don’t let this one slip off your radar. The Little Prince opens in 3D on March 18, 2016.

Update (12/2): Warner Bros. has dropped a new trailer touting Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and it clocks in at three minutes. There’s the Man of Steel, of course, and joining him this time around is Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. The new clip also teases Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and a big bad plucked from the DC Comics, Doomsday.

BvS:DoJ is out March 25, 2016.
