Movie trailer round-up: ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West,’ ‘Lust for Love’ & ‘Maleficent’

From the makers of Ted comes A Million Ways to Die in the West. In addition to producing, co-writing, and directing the comedy, Seth MacFarlane stars alongside Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman, and Neil Patrick Harris. This looks like a riot; let’s hope the extended red-band trailer doesn’t spoil the comedic punch. In theatres May 30. A synopsis:

Seth MacFarlane directs, produces, co-writes and plays the role of the cowardly sheep farmer Albert in A Million Ways to Die in the West. After Albert backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.

Perk up, Whedonverse fans. There’s a new romantic comedy coming out that stars many familiar faces from the land of Joss Whedon’s previous projects. Lust for Love is basically a Dollhouse reunion with Fran Kranz, Dichen Lachman, Enver Gjokaj, Miracle Laurie, Felicia Day and Maurissa Tancharoen. Also starring is Beau Garrett and Caitlin Stasey. It started as a Kickstarter project, it amassed $101,030, and writer/director Anton King is ready to release it on February 7 on VOD and across various digital platforms. Astor’s (Fran Kranz) happy tenacity spoils his one chance at love with his lifelong crush Mila (Beau Garrett). Convinced he needs more experience with women to win her back, he engages her ex-best friend Cali (Dichen Lachman) to teach him how to woo women.

And here’s the latest trailer for Disney’s Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie in the title role. A haunting rendition of “Once Upon a Dream” by Lana Del Rey plays throughout.
