The Big Bang, the ten dimensions explained

!INTERESTING ALERT!  WATCH THESE VIDEOS AND YOUR BRAIN WILL GROW AND EXPAND EXPONENTIALLY.

Well, maybe it won’t, but still.  These two videos are highly interesting and worth watching.  The first one features astrophysicist Janne Levin explaining her model of the Big Bang theory and the potential ways it may have occured.  The second video discusses the ten dimensions in great detail, integrating the notions of space and time.  Although it is explained in layman’s terms with situational examples, the concepts can be difficult to entirely grasp.  I’m telling you, though, it is worth the 11 minute trip.  Sit back, relax, and get learn’d.

Teaser trailer: James Cameron’s Avatar

A teaser trailer for the highly anticipated CG/live action film Avatar has been released.  Although I am looking totally forward to this movie, I am disappointed in the teaser trailer.  It did not reveal any plot line whatsoever, and more importantly it did not pique my interest.  Director James Cameron (Titanic) is looking to shift the way films are made by introducing 3D to mainstream cinema in a way it has never been experienced before.  After the 2D teaser trailer was released, eager fans of the upcoming film got the chance to watch 15 minutes of 3D footage at their local theatres.  Initial reactions were not so good.  Moviegoers do not seem to be convinced that Avatar will revolutionize film-making like Cameron believes it has the chance of accomplishing.  However, I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that the final product turns out to be a success.  It definitely has stiff competition now with a CG/live action film like District 9 blowing me away in standard 2D.  Avatar comes out on December 18.

Patricia Heaton dumb at math on Millionaire

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” with Regis Philbin is back with brand new episodes on ABC.  The end of each episode is saved for a special round where a celebrity sits in the hotseat to answer one question for $50,000; that money will go to the celebrity’s charity of choice.  Here we have Everybody Loves Raymond’s Patricia Heaton who receives a simple math question.  Her initial reaction and the way she handles the question is HA-larious, and quite sad.  Funny thing is, I’d probably have the same reaction if I saw that question…

Freezing Mentos in icecubes to make explosion labeled hoax, pranksters cry everywhere

The folks at Steve Spangler Science have finally shut and bolted the door on the famous prank that if you freeze Mentos inside icecubes and place them in Coke a crazy explosion will follow.  Everyone knows that if you put a Mentos by itself in a cup of Coke a chemical reaction will occur.  However, the sneakier ploy of freezing them inside icecubes and then dropping them in Coke, waiting for them to melt and create a mess does not work.  Check out the video above to see for yourself and find out why.

Kid Cudi – Man on the Moon: The End of Day ‘scene’ list

As we get closer to the debut of Kid Cuid’s first album Cudder himself has unveiled the final version of the “scenelist” for Man on the Moon: The End of Day.  Notice that the album does not have a track list; Cudi is purposely setting up his album to play like a movie with individual scenes, not traditional tracks.  The first two singles off the album are “Day N’ Nite” and “Make Her Say.”  On his blog Cudder tells his fans to “stay tuned on Twitter for a sneak peak of the movie poster” and the next single will be “Pursuit of Happiness.”  Look out for will be an impressive and unique album experience when it drops on September 15.
