Crazy engineers cannonball themselves to recreate the Intel chime

This dangerous stunt by “Intel engineers” to recreate the famous Intel chime from the commercials sounds (and looks) crazy, right?  Well, it turns out it is too crazy to be true.  This is an viral video promoting Intel; the “engineers” are actors and the cannonball stunt is fake.  Hell, at least it’s entertaining.

McD’s installs a steam machine in latest ad for coffee

Fast food giant McDonald’s has gone ahead and put a steam machine inside a transit shelter marquee to promote their hot coffee to freezing cold people waiting for the bus.  The ad reads “Your coffee is ready.”  Not so sure this will have people running to their local McDonald’s for their gross coffee, but the effect will definitely turn heads.

Trailer: Iron Man 2 (it’s finally here)

HOT DAMN, this trailer rocks.  We’ve seen the initial posters for this highly anticipated sequel, but none of that does justice to the Iron Man blockbuster franchise like this superb trailer has done.  Robert Downey Jr. rules as Iron Man, and I can’t wait to see how Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, and Mickey Rourke light up the screen as Black Widow, War Machine, and Whiplash, respectively.  Also, did you happen to catch the quick appearance of Samuel L. Jackson’s mysterious Nick Fury?  Ahhh, it’s going to be great!  Get pumped; Iron Man 2 comes to theaters May 7, 2010.

Trailer: Alice in Wonderland

The first full length trailer of Tim Burton’s take on Alice in Wonderland is here!  I am really looking forward to this one.  I am betting that amazing visuals and an all-star cast (including Johhny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Alan Rickman, Crispin Golver, and Matt Lucas) will result in one of Burton’s finest movies ever.  Burton’s colorful, trippy, and exciting adventure through the looking glass hits theaters March 5, 2010.

“Christmas Light Hero”

Ex-Disney imagineer Ric Turner has created quite the holiday delight: a fusion between Guitar Hero and Christmas light decorations.  How does it all work?  Read on to find out:

Christmas Light Hero is using 7 light controllers from Light-O-Rama built from kits to control 21,268 lights and LEDs. Each controller has 16 outputs and 2-3 TTL level control inputs that are used by the game system to fire different programmed light sequences depending on what happens in the game. It relies on the fact that the game sequence is very consistent. If the game and the lighting sequences start together, they will stay in very good sync through the length of the song. The light program allows branching and overlays for fail, star power and “ready.” I have some ideas to automate the initial show/game sync, but for now you have to push doorbell buttons at the right moments.

Though this must have taken so much time to complete the final product is very impressive and looks like a lot of fun.  And Turner, good song choice!

Type n Walk app lets you do just that

Welcome the latest addition to the App Store, Type n Walk!  This apps allows you to text on the go by “display[ing] a transparent viewport of what’s directly in front of you.”  In other words, using the iPhone’s camera, the app displays a transparent text messaging screen, allowing you to ‘type n walk’ without worrying about tripping on a rock or walking into a tree.  Seems a bit unnecessary; but then again, there’s an app for everything these days.

Retro PC design is elegantly rad

Philco PC.  Designed by Dave Schultze.

Stealing looks from the Philco Predicta (the iconic 1954 television set), this concept PC  features a typewriter keyboard, an edgy mouse, and a minimalist design that I am totally craving right now.  Check out more images below and after the break for a video tour of this retro masterpiece.

‘Skins lose, man loses bet, rednecks destory his TV with guns

So the story goes…a man lost a bet to his friends that the Redskins would be the Saints.  The Saints ended up beating the ‘Skins 33-30 in OT.  Because the man lost the bet, his redneck friends gathered arms and shot his big screen TV to smithereens.  Some of them even rammed into the broken shards of glass to prove their manhood.  Oh..there’s only one way to react to all this: WHO DAT!
