Ah man, how could they do this to us? Tron: Legacy, the anticipated sequel to the 1982 cult hit, doesn’t hit theatres for another year. Well, enjoy this for what it’s worth, and peek after the break for the teaser unveiled at this past year’s Comic Con.
Three-time world DMC champion DJ Rafik can tear it up on Trakor’s Scratch Pro with the Traktor Kontrol X1 and Maschine hardware controllers. Native Instruments has the X1 for sale at $229. If you like what you see here, look after the break for two additional videos with DJ Rafik. He’s got some slick moves in his arsenal.
This video features Epson’s version of “the extreme gamer.” He wears a strap-on backpack that includes a PS3 and Epson’s EH-TW450 projector. Sure it’s a viral video for their projector, but it’s fun nonetheless. The extreme gamer runs around the city in his shameful harness of tech, displaying Need for Speed: Shift on buildings, dance club ceilings, and inside wind tunnels. Would I put myself through such shame for a few bucks from Epson? Probably not. This level of EXTREMENESS is too loud for my self-respect.
The latest stop motion TV spot for the Amazon Kindle features up-and-coming artist Annie Little. She stars in the commercial and sings the song “Fly Me Away.” The Fly Me Away EP includes three songs and is available at Amazon to purchase. The song used in the commercial is available for free, so you should definitely pick it up. She’s quite talented and I’m sure this will not be last we see of her.
Alvarez created this four minute, 48 second short film about a robot invasion through his commercial production house for under $500. There has been so much positive buzz around this video that Hollywood execs are begging for more. In fact, legendary director and writer Sam Raimi will be supporting Alvarez bring his creation to the big screen. That’s right–Alvarez has been given a one million dollar deal with Ghost House Pictures to live his dream, to bring crazy apocalyptic robots into our theaters. This potential success story reminds me of Neill Blomkamp’s story; he was discovered by Peter Jackson to make District 9 in a very similar way.
This 1982 animated short by Tim Burton is terrifyingly brilliant. Whether you are a Burton follower or not, you will surely enjoy this impeccable work of art and literature (yeah, there’s a rhyming scheme).
I love how the directors follow the action of the skateboard with the camera instead of focusing on the human subject. Add slo-mo to the mix and this great camerawork results in an impressive and awesome work of art.
This impressive piece of machinery is called–get this–“Automated Manipulation of Spherical Objects in Three Dimensions Using a Gimbaled Air Jet.” Yeah, I’m going to call it Air Jet for short. Hope it doesn’t mind.
Anyway, isn’t it insanely cool? It was developed at the University of Illinois by Aaron Becker, Robert Sandheinrich, and professor Timothy Bretl. Gizmodo points out that “the air-stream can lift any spherical and non-spherical object up to 188 grams and 97mm in radius.” As you can see in the video, this means it can lift anything from a lightweight ping pong ball to a apple. It even peels onions! According to the students’ research report, this machine does have practical use; it can be used to sort small objects or handle delicate ones.
I think I just found my lifetime beer pong partner.
From Transformers to women’s lingerie, director Michael Bay can now say he’s done it all. Enjoy everything that is in the video above (and don’t forget to switch on HD for obvious reasons).
