Howard Stern interviews Lady Gaga in her most intimate interview yet

Whether or not you’re a little Monster you should do yourself a favor listen to this 88-minute interview featuring Lady Gaga. Radio host Howard Stern is known for his ability to pry open celebrities and dig into their personal lives, and surprisingly Gaga opens up to almost all of Stern’s questions. They talk about her rise to fame, her drug problems, her family, and so much more. Even if you’re not a fan of her music, the interview is really intriguing as it closely examines the life of a modern pop star. Towards the end of the interview Stern asks Gaga to play two songs; before she plays “The Edge of Glory” and “Hair” she explains to the listener how these songs originally came together. After listening to “The Edge of Glory” and almost on the verge of tears, Stern called it “one of the best performances we’ve ever had on the show.” Go on and take some time out of your day and listen to the candid interview in full below (complete with NSFW language):

Jump after the break to watch Gaga perform “The Edge of Glory” and “Hair” from inside Howard Stern’s Sirius Satellite Radio station. Continue reading Howard Stern interviews Lady Gaga in her most intimate interview yet

TV teaser: ‘The Walking Dead’ season 2

Here it is, our first glimpse into season 2 of AMC’s The Walking Dead. The scene follows Rick Grimes as he confronts not one but two zombies. His weapon of choice? A rock.

Watch it again, and then again, and anticipate the premiere coming this October.

Update: Hop after the break to see the new Walking Dead Comic Con poster; it features Rick and the gang of survivors atop the winnebago fending off a horde of zombies. Continue reading TV teaser: ‘The Walking Dead’ season 2

‘Fringe’ season 4 teaser is a mystery

“There are things happening here that I can’t even begin to explain, and I am not going anywhere until I can,” says Peter in this cryptic teaser for the upcoming fourth season of the cult sci-fi hit Fringe. Gotta love the FOX Broadcasting marketing team. There are a couple of things you should note after watching this tease. All of these scenes embedded in it come from previously aired Fringe episodes. The words that Peter speaks to Olivia were said in the season one episode “The Arrival.” That’s the one where we got our first glimpse into the lead Observer named September. The myriad of scenes that flash in front of your eyes following the season one clip mostly come from the latest season; if you’re adept at pausing and playing the YouTube video at appropriate moments you should find stills of Peter’s grave, Peter talking to Walter, Peter kissing Olivia, and the machine. It all leads up to (spoiler alert) the season three cliffhanger where the Observers are all standing around the Statue of Liberty and confirming Peter’s removal from existence. Also, sprinkled throughout the mysterious montage is an enlarged and inverted number 4 (to signify season 4?) and the hashtag #WhereIsPeter(?)Bishop. There’s a reason why the teaser is titled “?”–there’s hardly much to glean from it that could provide clues to the whereabouts of Peter. And yet I can’t stop watching it.

Fringe returns Friday, September 23 at 9PM on FOX.

Barenaked Ladies perform ‘Big Bang Theory’ theme song on set

To celebrate the syndication launch of the CBS hit The Big Bang Theory, Canadian alt-rock band Barenaked Ladies crashed the set of the nerdtastic show to perform the insanely catchy theme song. The band plays the song smack dab in the middle of Leonard and Sheldon’s spacious apartment. The tune was conceived back in 2007 when BBT co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady asked Barenaked Ladies frontman Ed Robertson to pen a theme song for the series as a “sort of history of everything … in about 32 seconds.” The music video features never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage of the show’s table read, rehearsals and episode taping, and don’t miss co-creator Chuck Lorre handling a guitar. Don’t be shy, sing along! Our whole universe was in a hot dense state…

Oh, and if you’re interested, The Big Bang Theory debuts in syndication September 18, simultaneously on TBS, the Fox Television Stations and broadcast stations across the country, and will air five nights a week. Season five premieres Thursday, September 22 at 8PM on CBS.

“Meet Captain America” featurette

We’ve already been privy to two explosive trailers for Marvel’s upcoming superhero flick Captain America: The First Avenger. Well, now here’s one more video for you to ogle before Cap comes to theatres on July 22. In this “Meet Captain America” featurette you’ll see flashes of new footage from the movie and get some insight into the making of it from director Joe Johnston and actors Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell.

Trailer: Martin Scorsese’s Hugo

Scorsese’s fully embracing 3D with his upcoming flick Hugo. The family-friendly adventure film stars Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas), the phenomenal Chloë Moretz (Kick-Ass, Let Me In), Ben Kingsley, Jude Law, and Sacha Baron Cohen. ComingSoon.net provides a synopsis:

Hugo tells the story of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. With the help of an eccentric girl, he searches for the answer to a mystery linking the father he recently lost, the ill-tempered toy shop owner living below him and a heart shaped lock, seemingly without a key. Based on Brian Selznick’s award winning and imaginative New York Times bestseller, “The Invention of Hugo Cabret,” this magical tale is Academy Award-winner Martin Scorsese’s first film shot in 3D.

Dig the trailer above. Hugo hits theatres November 23, 2011.

Music video: Paramore – “Monster”

Paramore’s got a new music video out and it’s for the Transformers: Dark of the Moon single “Monster.” It’s the first song conceived by the rock band since brothers Zac and Josh Farro dropped out. But who needs ’em? The song is quite good and the music video is even cooler. Frontwoman Hayley Williams stars in this cinematic and rather eerie clip; the shot of the band mates in the water is neat and very reminiscent of Minority Report‘s precogs. Well, go on and rock out to the Transformers-less “Monster.”

Trailer: Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows

We all knew a Sherlock Holmes sequel had to be coming, and here it is. Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, respectively, and Guy Richie and back at the helm. Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is the female lead, and Jared Harris (he played the memorable Fringe baddie David Robert Jones) is the antagonist. Stephen Fry rounds out the cast as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft Holmes. After an initial viewing of the trailer embedded above, it looks like the sequel’s going to be just as fun, amusing, and adventurous as the original. A juicy plot synopsis lies after the break. ‘The Hobbit’ production vlog #2

Here’s another fascinating look behind the scenes of Peter Jackson’s upcoming prequel The Hobbit. In it the famed director talks to the actors and production crew behind the making of the expansive project, and you get a feel for just how far they’ve come since they broke ground in the first production video. Things seem to be going splendidly in New Zealand. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey releases December 14, 2012; part two–There and Back Again–follows exactly one year later.

Trailer 2: The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn

Here’s a new trailer from the upcoming Steven Spielberg animated flick The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. Though the first trailer impressed visually, it failed to mark its territory along the uncanny valley since none of the footage showed the characters talking. Thankfully this one includes that, and I’m happy to report that it steers clear of the creepy animation danger zone. Producer Peter Jackson’s Weta Digital effects are superb and I don’t think moviegoers will find it hard to invest in these realistic but cartoonish group of characters.

Here’s a suucient plot summary, provided by Wikipedia: The film depicts Tintin’s (Jamie Bell) first encounter with Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis) and the discovery of a clue to the treasure of his ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. They set out to find it with protection from a prison escapee who tried to get the treasure as well as Detectives Thompson and Thomson (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost).

The Secret of the Unicorn, the first of three Tintin films Spielberg hopes, is due out December 23, 2011.

TV trailer: ‘The X Factor’

Here’s the first look at US version of The X Factor. Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell transports the talent competition from the UK to the States, and you can bet he’s bring his extremely critical attitude with him. Though it wouldn’t seem that way at first in the trailer embedded above. A  photo including fellow judges Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger (of the Pussycat Dolls), and L.A. Reid (former Def Jam CEO) is pasted after the break.
