Kid Cudi delays album to November 9, teases Dot Da Genius collab

I don’t want to start counting how many times Kid Cudi’s forthcoming second studio album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, has been delayed.  OK, I think it’s been three times.  And you know what?  For all we know these changes haven’t been delays, per se; everything is labeled rumor until the record label makes the official call.  Although the label didn’t make the call this time around, it is the first time Cudder acknowledged a release date.  He sounded pretty confident about a November 9 release date when he announced it during a performance at the University of Buffalo.  He explained the push to November saying that he’s being working so hard on the songs that he forgot to put much effort into the “other [important] sh-t”, like the album artwork.  He wants to “bring art on all levels…musically and visually with the packaging.”  He promises that another movie poster and DVD footage will be included with the album.  Regular and deluxe versions will be available to purchase.

Cudi continued the conversation with his fans by revealing that another album is in the works.  He will be collaborating with longtime partner Dot Da Genius (Day N Nite) and he plans on releasing it alongside MOTM2 so that we will have “a sh-t ton of Kid Cudi music to listen to” for the foreseeable future.  Right on!  Lastly he says he’s working on mastering “Dose of Dopeness“, a track that he performed for an audience back in 2008.

Look after the break to hear all this news straight outta Kid Cudi’s mouth.

Kid Cudi updates the name of his next album

At his latest show in Milaukee rapper Kid Cudi announced the “official” name of his sophomore collaborative album: Cudder and The Revolution of the Evolution.  I say “official” because Cudi is known for announcing an album title and changing it around a couple times before it releases.  His first album was originally called “Man on the Moon: The Guardians” and was changed to Man on the Moon: The End of Day.  We’ve know for quite some time that his next album was going to be titled “Cudder,” but now he has gone head and added “The Revolution of the Evolution” to it.  I can see this latest iteration potentially finalizing into “Cudder: The Revolution of Evolution” but we shall wait and see.  Looking forward to it.

Kid Cudi: Grammy nominations, upcoming album, Freestyle

Rapper Kid Cudi has received three Grammy nods: Best Rap Solo Performance for Day ‘n’ Nite; Best Rap Song for Day ‘n’ Nite; and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for Make Her Say (Featuring Common and Kanye West).  His freshman album Man on the Moon: The End of Day deserves album of the year, but that’s just me (and probably a whole lot of other people, but whatever).  Be sure to check out the 2010 Grammy Awards on January 31 at 8PM on CBS.

Kid Cudi recently sat down with MTV News and shared some information about his forthcoming sophomore album called Cudder:

Cudder, I already got five tracks locked in. We got Snoop, we got Pharrell. I just was in the studio with him. We got Jim Jonsin. I did a record with him. I’m gonna get back in the studio with him. Trying to get the right amount of hit records on this. It’s gonna be the complete opposite of what Man on the Moon was. Man on the Moon was so serious. This one is gonna be more playful and fun. It’s about having a good time.”

People reaching out to me wanting to collab is so bugged out.  I remember when nobody wanted to do any song with me, let alone listen to my sh–. It’s been humbling since Kanye reached out. People seek my creativity; that’s dope. I don’t do the normal sh–. I don’t make the normal songs. So when people reach out, that means they’re on the same frequency.”

Definitely looking forward to Cudder.  For now, though, Cudi wishes us happy holidays with a freshly cooked freestyle called “cudderisback.”  Stream it below and download it here.

Kid Cudi talks “Cudder,” his next studio album

Soon after the release of his first studio album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day, rapper Kid Cudi is already talking about his next album called Cudder.  Cudi labels the next album a collaboration CD that will feature artists that inspire him.  In his own words…

“Cudder is basically an album of me working with artists that have inspired me or artists that have helped me grow and people who I’ve always admired. So far, we’ve got Snoop, Travis Barker — trying to get Green Day onboard, hopefully, Kings of Leon, hopefully. I’m really trying to do all the collabs that I couldn’t do for the [Man on the Moon] album, and then some, because the album was so themed that I had to strip a lot of features. We’re going to have the Clipse on this compilation, Robin Thicke, hopefully we’re going to get in the studio, I just did a record for his upcoming album; it’s amazing.”

Expect to listen to what is sure to be another hit from newcomer Kid Cudi this summer “at the latest.”
