The ‘Entourage’ movie trailer has arrived

Vince. E. Turtle. Drama. Ari. The boys are back in the first teaser trailer for the Entourage movie. Everybody’s back for the final ride, including Lloyd, Mrs. Ari Gold, and Sloan. Also, the teaser features exciting cameos from Calvin Harris, Billy Bob Thornton, Haley Joel Osment, kick-ass MMA fighter Ronda Rousey, and of course, Mark Wahlberg.

Movie star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), together with his boys, Eric (Kevin Connolly), Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and Johnny (Kevin Dillon), are back…and back in business with super-agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven). Some of their ambitions have changed, but the bond between them remains strong as they navigate the capricious and often cutthroat world of Hollywood.

The synopsis is pretty generic, but at the end of the day the plot isn’t what’s going to have fans of the HBO original series flocking to theatres this summer. It’s the characters, and man are they back in stride. From the mock sci-fi movie starring Vince and DJ Calvin Harris that opens the teaser, to the numerous Drama jabs, and Ari Gold being Ari Gold, it’s all here. If you’ve been following the Entourage movie whispers since the series finale aired in 2011, this is quite the early Christmas treat.

Entourage hits theatres June 5, 2015.

The ‘Entourage’ movie is underway

And with that tweet, creator Doug Ellin confirms that the long anticipated Entourage movie based on the hit HBO series is happening. According to Deadline, stars Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Connolly and producers Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson all have deals in place so that Warner Bros. can finally give the greenlit project life. And now we wait for one awesome trailer.

It’s official: ‘Entourage’ is coming to a theatre near you

Ever since Entourage came to an end in September 2011 fans of the longrunning HBO series have been drooling over the idea that the boys might return for one last hurrah on the big screen. Over the past couple years creator Doug Ellin and producer Mark Wahlberg have expressed interest in doing a movie; most recently in September Ellin told Deadline that he was fully invested in completing a feature-length script. And now, it’s officially a-go: Warner Bros. has given the green light for a theatrical version of Entourage. Ellin (who has completed the script by now) is set to direct and Wahlberg will produce with Stephen Levinson. Adrian Grenier (Vinny Chase), Kevin Connolly (E), Kevin Dillon (Johnny Drama), Jerry Ferrara (Turtle), and Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold) are all expected to reprise their memorable roles.

Ellin is keeping wraps on the film’s plot but he spilled this to Deadline in September. “There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head…But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters,” he said.

And now we wait for the trailer!

‘Entourage’ movie update: Creator Doug Ellin is almost done with the script!

If you thought you’d never see the boys again, you thought wrong. Entourage creator Doug Ellin spilled to Deadline that his plans to bring back Vince, Drama, Turtle, E, and Ari for one last big screen hurrah are chugging along at a brisk pace. As of this past Wednesday he claimed to be on page 110 of the screenplay and that he has hopes to finish it by this Sunday. Though the plot is being kept under wraps, Ellin teased what’s in store for fans of the hit HBO series. If you recall, during a post-credits sequence agent Ari Gold received an important phone call from John Ellis asking if he would succeed him as the head of a studio. “There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head, and that’s still the first page for me,” said Ellin. “But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters.”

And now we wait with bated breath for HBO to greenlight Entourage: The Movie. When there’s more, you’ll know. For now, smoke more weed Turtle, seriously.

Mark Wahlberg talks ‘Entourage’ movie, hasn’t given up on ‘How To Make It’ just yet

In an interview with GQ released yesterday, actor/producer Mark Wahlberg promoted his upcoming action thriller Contraband and (luckily for us) dropped a few surprise nuggets about his two HBO series that recently concluded. Wahlberg confirmed that he and series creator Doug Ellin are in the process of cooking up a story for the big screen. He revealed that making an Entourage movie was always in the works because “people were complaining that episodes were too short.” What can we expect when Vince, Drama, Turtle, and E return once more? Wahlberg said, “I think a 90-minute movie of sheer craziness—the guys getting back to just being about the guys, you know? Lose the ladies. Go crazy. Give people what they want.” And the question that’s surely on your mind: when can we expect it? Wahlberg says he’s waiting on Ellin to write the script. Currently Ellin is working on his next HBO series 40 starring Ed Burns, so perhaps he’ll pick up where the Entourage series finale left off after 40 wraps.

Now get this. GQ mentioned Wahlberg’s latest HBO creation How To Make It In America, and instead of harping on its failure to reach a broad audience (which led to its cancellation last month) he talked about its potential future. “Well, the wheels are always turning and we’ve talked to the networks and we may pair it up with another network. You know, you can only have so many shows on the air [at HBO], but we’re talking about putting it elsewhere. One of the great things is also that we have a couple of things that are really geared toward guys that we’ve been developing that [HBO] feels are really close to going.” Color me intrigued. However, I wouldn’t allow yourself to get too excited just yet. Transitioning a show from one network to another is not so common these days. It is assuring to know, though, that Wahlberg and likely the entire creative team behind How To Make It is aware of the series’ cult fanbase and that they’re attempting to resurrect the show before the dust settles. Ya know I be keeping my ear to the ground with this one.

‘Entourage’ movie: It’s matter of when, not if

At the the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, Entouage creator Doug Ellin and executive producer and inspiration Mark Wahlberg reassured fans that a movie based on the HBO hit series is definitely in the works.

Said Ellin: “We’re going to do a movie. We’re going to do it. It’s a question of when and how quick. We’ll sit down and come up with an idea…and then we’ll make it happen.”

Wahlberg added: “If I had to finance it myself, I would do it. I’ve been telling Doug, The Hangover is to me very much like Entourage, and look at all the recent success of R-rated movies. I certainly hope that this has a chance to become a feature film.”

Jeremy Piven, Entourage‘s Ari Gold, chimed in, “I think [the final season] is a gratifying way to finish, yet I also feel we could transition into a movie.”

So there you have it. Saying goodbye to the boys in August will certainly be bittersweet, but at least you’ll be able to rest at night knowing Vince and co. will return for one last hurrah on the big screen sometime in future.

TV Reminder: Entourage premieres tonight at 10:30PM on HBO

The boys are back for one last hurrah. The eighth and final season of Entourage premieres tonight at 10:30PM on HBO. The shortened six episode season will air every Sunday at this timeslot; the series finale falls on August 28.

In an interview with Vulture, creator Doug Ellen says longtime viewers can expect a return to original form. “I wanted to get back to the early roots of the show, and get back to the guys sticking together, really looking out for each other” he says. “I wanted it to be a little lighter this season; obviously, the third episode is pretty dark, but I think we come out of that in a good way that’s realistic but also comedic.” As for the post-HBO run Entourage movie that’s in the works, Ellin says that the final season will not lead into the movie simply because the storyline for the feature film has not been decided yet. In his words: “I wish I was smart enough — everybody’s like, ‘Oh, you gotta leave it open, and do this and this.’ Every year I do the best I can and it ends somewhere and hopefully it satisfies. But it has nothing to do with any plan for the movie, because at this point there is no plan except [that] we’re gonna do one.” The plan is to ship the boys off to Europe in the movie, but beyond that Ellin’s taking his time in creating a satisfying conclusion for Vince and his friends.

‘Entourage’ movie is on track to happen, according to producer Mark Wahlberg

We’ve heard through HBO programming president Michael Lombardo that Entourage creator Doug Ellin “wants to write a film, but wants to do it when the story will make sense.”  This week more Entourage movie talk added more flames to fan speculation about the possibility of a movie featuring Ari Gold and gang, and this time it comes from executive producer Mark Wahlberg.  “We have one last season left on TV and then it would probably take place after the finale,” said Wahlberg.  “There are places to go. I’m still here all these years later, aren’t I? My story didn’t end in my 20s.” (If you didn’t know, the show is loosely based on the life of actor Wahlberg.)  He says, “We want it to happen…[but] we won’t make it if we don’t have a good script,” echoing what Lombardo said about Ellin’s vision for a movie.

Well Entourage fans, it’s really starting to look like a movie is in the works.  The eighth and final season of the show will air next summer on HBO, and following that six-episode arc we should have a better idea about where the creator and producers might want to head for a movie adaptation.
