Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids, Sin City, Machete) has teamed up with Nike and its spokesperson Kobe Bryant to direct a fantastic little short called The Black Mamba. Danny Trejo stars as The Crippler, Bruce Willis is Mister Suave, and The Boss is played by none other than Kanye West. “Some take souls, some take scalps…the Boss takes shoes.” For a promotional bit this is so extraordinarily over-the-top in the good kind of way. Can Kobe defeat the sinister West and keep his kicks? Watch and enjoy.

Trailer #3: Machete (red band)
You’ve seen the “illegal” and first theatrical trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s Machete. Now it’s time to feast your eyes on the NSFW red band trailer. (NSFW = Not Stuff For Work = the video contains blood, guts, nudity, and tons of other fun and inappropriate content.) Trailer #2: Machete
After releasing an “illegal” trailer back in mid-May, director Robert Rodriquez (and backing studio 20th Century Fox) approved this theatrical trailer for his upcoming bloody, over-the-top revenge fest Machete. Watch as star Danny Trejo cuts his way through enemies with assistence from Cheech Marin, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Jeff Fahey, Don Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, and Rose McGowan. Lindsay Lohan, who was included in the first trailer dressed as a nun, is noticably absent here. Here’s a nice synopsis for you:
Machete is a Mexican ex-Federale with a gift for wielding a blade, who hides out as a day laborer, who is double-crossed by a corrupt state senator. The feature version of the trailer finds Machete (Trejo) a renegade former Mexican Federale, roaming the streets of Texas after a shakedown from drug lord Torrez (Seagal). Reluctantly, Machete takes an offer from spin doctor Benz (Fahey) to assassinate McLaughlin (De Niro) a corrupt Senator. Double crossed and on the run Machete braves the odds with the help of Luz (Rodriguez), a saucy taco slinger, Padre (Marin) his “holy” brother, and April (Lohan) a socialite with a penchant for guns. All while being tracked by Sartana (Alba), a sexy ICE agent with a special interest in the blade slinger.

(“Illegal”) trailer: Machete
What started out as a mock-trailer inserted at the beginning of Robert Rodriguez & Quentin Tarantin’s 2007 double-feature Grindhouse/Death Proof is being spun into its own feature-length film. Although Machete, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, is not due out in theatres until September 3, Rodriguez cut his own non-theatrical trailer for the movie. According to Rodriguez, who is publically against Arizona’s new immigration law (which makes failure to carry immigration documents a crime), the trailer has a “a special Cinco de Mayo message to Arizona.”
Machete stars Danny Trejo as a Machete Cortez, a knife-wielding renegade seeking revenge against lawmakers. Fun fact, the character of Machete Cortez was first introduced to us in Rodriguez’s Spy Kids movie; he played the protagonists’ uncle. Now take a look at the all-star cast: Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin*, Lindsay Lohan, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Jeff Fahey*, Don Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez*, Steven Seagal, and Rose McGowan.
