‘Hangover’ helmer Todd Phillips confirms the three-quel will be the last

Last week on Thursday Warner Bros. released a press statement confirming the development of another Hangover movie starring The Wolfpack–that is, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis. A studio exec Jeff Robinov said, “We are extremely pleased to have Todd Phillips and the guys back together again for another ‘Hangover,’ and we look forward to collaborating with them on another great movie.” Todd Phillips, director of the first two Hangover films, reacted like this. “I’m so excited to embark on another ‘Hangover’ film with Bradley, Ed and Zach. We’re going to surprise a lot of people with the final chapter we have planned. It will be a fitting conclusion to our three-part opera of mayhem, despair and bad decisions.” And so it’s decided; The Hangover Part III will be the last in the hysterical franchise. Though the plot is still being kept under wraps, there is speculation that the three-quel will not adhere to the same “what happened last night?” forumla that has been used in the past. Production begins in September, and now we await a trailer. Full PR after the break.

Trailer 2: ‘Project X’

The low-budget R-rated comedy from director Nima Nourizadeh and producer Todd Phillips (The Hangover) has a new trailer and it blows the first one out of the water. Project X uses shaky cam “found footage” to tell the story of a group of high school seniors throwing one helluva party that quickly spirals out of control. While the first trailer plays with your mind and dares you to think that X might be a comedy wrapped inside a dark adventure, this new one lays everything out in the open, properly introduces our main group of characters, and defines itself as a full-on, no holds barred crazy laugh fest involving stupid young teens that the current generation will definitely relate to. Get ready to party hard when Project X releases in theatres March 2.

‘The Hangover 2’ in the works?

IGN recently interviewed “Hangover” star Zach Galifianakis.  Apparently talks of a sequel have been exchanged between the actors and director Todd Phillips.

IGN: What has Todd said about the sequel? Has he said where he wants to go with it?

Galifianakis: He is writing the script. But I haven’t seen the script. I’m not running to do The Hangover 2. I told Todd, the last thing I want is the Police Academy chain all of the sudden, where I’m only known from… You’ve got to be careful with something like that. The movie’s really good, why bother with a sequel? And I’m not saying that I’m not going to do it. I’m just posing these questions. These are things I ask Todd. Obviously, the reason is executives have Bentleys to pay for. I would love, love, love to work with those guys again. The script has to be good! But I’m working with Todd on a movie we’ll be shooting in about six weeks. So I’ll do that first, and then we’ll see how it goes.

I totally understand that Galifianakis does not want to become “the funny guy from The Hangover.”  Still, if a sequel should be made in the near future, there will be no hangover to laugh about without Galifianakis’ lovable character.
